Theme: Enhancing Learner Agency in Chinese Language Education within a Global Educational Context
In the era of artificial intelligence, education faces a powerful question: What truly ignites and inspires our learners to grow - not just to prepare for the future, but to create it?
As educators, we are reimagining what it means to learn. Is knowledge something that lives in separate subjects, or is there a deeper kind of knowing - one that cultivates learner autonomy, amplifies voice and choice, and empowers students to become lifelong learners, capable of connecting, transferring, and creating meaning across all disciplines?
This year, our conference invites you to explore how Chinese language education can serve as a powerful space for cultivating learner agency and holistic growth. We believe that Chinese language education should not stand alone; but instead, be woven into a broader philosophy of learning - one that nurtures curiosity, independence, and the joy of discovery.
Together, we will explore how Chinese language education can inspire students to think deeply, act creatively, and learn courageously through:
- Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Designing flexible and inclusive learning pathways that empower every student to access, engage with, and demonstrate their learning in meaningful ways.
- Culturally Responsive Pedagogy (CRP): Cultivating both educators’ and students’ cultural competence, building authentic relationships, and leveraging learners’ cultural and linguistic assets to strengthen engagement and academic growth.
- Generative AI Literacy: Guiding students to use AI as a tool for inquiry, reflection, and creative problem-solving - expanding their thinking rather than replacing it.
- The Science of Reading and Writing: Deepening understanding of how Chinese literacy develops in ways that build knowledge, foster curiosity, and promote cognitive independence.
- Program and Curriculum Design: Creating coherent, sustainable, and future-ready Chinese learning experiences that are purposeful, relevant, and connected across course levels.
Join us as we bring together voices from across the globe to celebrate the possibilities of Chinese language education - where every learner becomes an active creator of their own future, and where education serves as a bridge between cultures, disciplines, and dreams.
